happens to be the most pleasant and memorable period of our life. In this respect,we cannot forget the role played by sincere and dedicated teachers during our academic career.

On Saturday 19th September,2015 some of our class mates of SSC (1951-52) Batch had the rare and fortunate experience of witnessing the “Blooming of a Fresh LOTUS unfolding 100 petals(and more!) right in the abode of “Surya Deva.” The following friends from our SSC(1951-52) Batch – Smt.Alamelu Mani ( Mother of famous singer Hariharan) , Sarvashree /G Subramanian(Mani), V Ganapathi Subramanian with his wife, P K Natarajan, D Vishwanathan, S Krishnamoorthy and VN Ramani (b/o VN Lalitha and of 1975 SSC Batch) called on our Kamalam teacher at her house in Surya Sadan, Wadala at 11.15 AM on 19/9/2015, to felicitate her on the momentous occasion of her 100th Birthday.

On behalf of all of us, Shri GS Mani presented her with a lovely bouquet of fresh pink Roses while opening with an invocation, a vedic prayer, to the Almighty to bless her with lasting Good Health and Prosperity. She was also presented with a woolen shawl and a box of choicest Dry fruits on behalf of our Batch besides a set of silver coins and Silver “diyas”. The names of the following batchmates – N Ramchandran (Virginia,USA),E V Hariharan,V Gopal,NK Jagdish, V Manjunath, S Nagarathnam, M Raman, S Ramanathan, K Ramaswamy (Appu), K Swaminathan, GS Vasudevan, R Vasudeva Rao, Smt, Bhagyam Hariharan, Smt.Kamala Venkatraman, Smt KA Parvathy, Smt S Visalakshy- who were not present were read out(with their present location) while conveying their Respects and Best Wishes to the teacher. Teacher was informed that each of them had specifically requestd us to convey his/her respects and best wishes to her.Teacher felt very happy that so many of us were wishing her well. The joy of the occasion was further enhanced with a song on the Lord of The Seven Hills(Balaji of Tirupathi, 19th being the first Saturday of Tamil “Purattasi” month sacred to Lord Balaji) by Alamelu. The session was rounded off with photographs taken of those present with the Teacher to commemorate the occasion.

All of us were happy and felt very fortunate since we think, we were the only group Teacher agreed to meet her at her home while several other batches of students had to meet her at the felicitation function held on the same  day at the  SIWS School premises  later in the evening.
